Literature Text

And now, and now,
When the wind dies down,
And the tears can be found
Where they lived without sound,
In the silence of grave and ground:
Let your heart pound,
Go beyond the brief bounds
That separate then from now.

You were tearless so long,
You knew it was wrong
To withhold what you felt,
To let yourself melt
In the cold arms of hatred
That waited and waited
For a chance to take revenge.
Do you feel yourself singed
By a promise unhinged?

The anger within you
Will surely amend you,
Will change you into
Something you won't like.
If you don't want to die,
I suggest you try
To keep it from killing your mind.

They ignore your voice,
It's just their choice,
Let them go their ways
And find your own rays
Of light, and living,
And the things they're not giving,
Of which is foremost: love.
You can still fly, my darling dove.

So don't be tearless,
You don't have to be fearless,
Just let the tears fall--
You're no lifeless doll.
You can cry if you feel sad,
You can cry if you feel bad,
And if you feel happy--
You can cry then, it's not sappy.

You're alive, so cry,
And let the tears lie.
There's no shame in crying
If it prevents you from dying.

Don't be ashamed
To cry in the rain.
My seventy-fifth poem on this site. It also happens to be my latest entry for Starlight Delirium, my "prompt romp" with ~Product-of-Delirium. It's a week late, but the prompt this time was "the nature of our tears and those we know".

I hope you like it!
